Recipe: Mini Spelt bunsI had this pack of spelt flour in my kitchen cabinet for a couple of months now, but I couldn’t think of what I would make with it. I had never baked anything with spelt flour before and because I knew it needs different treatment than regular flour, I didn’t want it to be a big project (incase it wouldn’t work ). Then I stumbled upon this recipe from Focus on Foodies for wheatfree, mini spelt buns. This seemed like the perfect recipe to try out the spelt flour: not too complicated and the produce isn’t large, so if I would fail, at least I didn’t have to throw away a full sized bread.

Restaurant: Breakfast High Tea at Zoet & Zout, Rotterdam

Breakfast High Tea, Zoet & Zout, RotterdamI’m always on the lookout for new and interesting places to go to and through Instagram, I discovered Smaakatelier Zoet & Zout in the Pannenkoekstraat in Rotterdam. I had read about their lunches and high teas and then I knew I wanted to visit it sometime. So when my grandmother wanted to do a high tea for her birthday and didn’t do this because she turned out to do a barbecue instead (which was a true succes as well!), I knew just what to give her for her birthday. A high tea at Zoet & Zout. But not the regular one at around 15.00 o’clock, but a Breakfast High Tea. I thought this was a creative twist to the concept and was curious to find out what it would be like.

Inspiration: Smoked Salmon Roll-ups

Smoked salmon roll upI always feel like I need to serve something savoury when I have friends or family over around lunchtime, but when you ask them if they want a sandwich, they usually say no or sometimes even, they decide to leave (and have lunch at home). There is something most of my guests don’t decline when I offer it to them and it is a Smoked Salmon Roll-up.
