I have a weakness for anything that has Oreo in it. It doesn’t matter if it is in a cake, milkshake, chocolate, dessert or just on its’ own. There is just something about the combination of the dark, chocolate cookies and the vanilla layer inbetween the cookies that is perfect! Sweet, but not too sweet, crunchy and soft at the same time. So when I heard about this Magnum-like Oreo icecream, I had to get my hands on it. Because, well, icecream is one of my other weaknesses (yep, I am indeed a massive sweettooth) and what could be better than combining the two? It took me a couple of months to find them unfortunately. I almost feared they wouldn’t make it to my local Albert Heijn, but then, all of a sudden, they were there! There was only one box left actually, which I took home with me of course.
Alexandrium shopping centre is one of the most well known indoor shopping centres of Rotterdam. Most of us locals still call it the ‘Oosterhof’, which was the original name of the first part of the shopping centre. As it expanded with the second and third part, the name changed to Alexandrium. It is really close to my house and I do feel kind of spoiled sometimes with all of the shops so close to home. There are also many places in Alexandrium where you can get something to eat. One of my favorite new spots is Frooters, a frozen yoghurt and juice bar. I fell in love with frozen yoghurt in New York City and ever since I am always on the lookout for new spots that sell it near me. Lees verder
I am a passionate icecream lover and ever since I went to New York two years ago I am also a fan of frozen yoghurt. I was walking to my hotel after I had been to the musical Sister Act when I still felt I needed a late night snack before going to bed. Of course, there are plenty of things you can eat while walking on 7th Avenue, but a frezen yoghurt store attracties my attention. I had never tried this before, so I took the opportunity to experience frozen yoghurt for the first time. It was a regular yoghurt with fruits and nuts on it and I was sold immediately! I loved it and ever since I am kind of obsessed. So when I saw frozen yoghurt in the Albert Heijn I couldn’t resist.
On a sunday afternoon, I wanted to provide a sturdy and comforting meal for my hard working family. Because not everybody in my family likes the same things, I went on a search for some recipes I knew everyone would like. To me, comfort dinner food usually comes out of the oven, or has cheese in it, so a macaroni and cheese was the food of my choice. I did want it to have some vegetables in it though, just to keep it a bit healthy at least. This is how I got to the Macaroni & Cheese with Broccoli from ‘Uit Pauline’s Keuken’. Everyone in my family loves broccoli, so this would fit us all. To go with it, I searched for a recipe with chicken breasts. It turned out my favorite one was from another Dutch blog: ‘Leuke Recepten. This recipe has chicken breast filled with tomato, mozzarella and basil, which seemed like a good combination with the macaroni. So we had a Blog inspired dinner!!
