Restaurant: Sugo, Rotterdam

image

I absolutely love Italian food, it doesn’t matter what kind of food, but I just love how the flavors are combined in the Italian cuisine. Pizza is one of the things that is a real treat for me. I don’t eat it often, but when I do, I enjoy it to the maximum. That’s why I was so exited when I heard about the opening of Sugo in the Aaert van Nesstraat in my hometown Rotterdam. Sugo sells pizza slices, so no whole round pizza’s, making it easier to have to either have just one slice for lunch, or try multiple pizza’s for dinner!

Inspiration: Wrap with smoked chicken and pea sprouts

Inspiration: Wrap with smoked chicken and pea sproutsI eat at the dance studio two times a week at the moment between teaching classes and most of the times I either buy or make a salad. It’s easy to prepare and light on my stomach when I have to dance again straight after. But now, I got kind of bored with the salads and wanted to make something different. I figured a wrap would be easy and light as well, so I looked for things to put in my wrap at my local supermarket.

Explore the Foodhallen, Amsterdam

image

The Foodhallen in Amsterdam was something I really wanted to visit, because I thought it had such an unique and amazing concept. I always have a hard time picking a restaurant when I go out for dinner, as I always want to try so many different foods and cuisines. In the Foodhallen, there are numerous vendors in an indoor foodmarket that create original bites of almost every cuisine you can imagine. You can just collect and combine all of the things you like and eat them at one location. How perfect is that for a food lover? Getting to try multiple things at once! Lees verder

Restaurant: Picknick Rotterdam

image

Picknick is another place I read so much about on other blogs and every review I read was so positive that I needed to check it out myself. I honestly didn’t know it was in the place it is (at the Mariniersweg), even though I live in Rotterdam and I walked past it probably countless times. Really bad, I know. But this time I walked inside! Lees verder

Restaurant: Lof der Zoetheid, Rotterdam

image

Lof der Zoetheid was on my wishlist to visit for literally years already. I discovered this place when I went to visit Kookpunt for the first time with my parents. We had been in this amazing shop for a couple of hours and afterwards we wanted to go and have lunch somewhere. Next to Kookpunt, on the corner of the block was Lof der Zoetheid. As we looked inside, we noticed the place was crammed full! There was no room for us to sit, so we didn’t go for lunch there we but at home instead. As we  never heard of it before we wondered what was so special about Lof der Zoetheid. So at home I looked it up on the internet and I found the most wonderful reviews. I found out that especially their cakes, lunches and high teas were incredible. Then I knew I had to go there at least once!

Restaurant: Giuliano, Rotterdam

image

The Italian cuisine is one of my favorites, so Italian restaurants are often the ones of my choice. Lately, I was searching for a place to have lunch in Rotterdam and I found Giuliano at the Meent. I had never heard of this place before, but the reviews on the Internet were all so positive that I knew I had to go there.

Giuliano is only open for lunch, between 11.00 and 17.00 o’clock. You can get all kinds of Italian sandwiches, soups and salads. Varying from a Bistecca (slow-cooked beef rib) to Pastrami, to Polpettone (Italian meatloaf) to Gallo (warm chicken), all of the descriptions of the sandwiches on the menu sound amazing! Of course they also make traditional sandwiches like mozzarella or salami. Most of the dishes are under 10 euros, which is a fair price for me. What I liked about Giuliano as well, is that they design a new signature dish each year. This shows to me that they want to keep experimenting and improving their formula.

Review: Spelt Twister AH To Go

AHToGo Spelt twister review

Albert Heijn To Go at the trainstations is one of my favorite places to grab some quick sandwich or any other bread-like thing when I’m travelling by train. The have a large variety of premade sandwiches, buns without anything on it, ready to eat savoury snacks and sweet things such as croissants and cookies. Lately, the To Go concept has been revamped with a change in the products they stock. There is a lot more food that would be considered by many people as the healthier option. For example, there is a lot more organic (even raw) stuff, more fruit, and more traditional products where ingredients have been substituted by healthier options.
