Last week, I spent two days at my aunt who lives in Schoonhoven. Schoonhoven is a very cute town between Rotterdam and Utrecht. It is known for the silver that used to be made here a lot. In the city centre, you will find a lot of old buildings, mostly from around the year 1600. I absolutely love to see this, as you won’t find buildings like this in Rotterdam, because of what happened here in the Second World War. It gives Schoonhoven such a charming feel. I also really like the canal that runs right through the town. On one of the sides of the canal, restaurant Lekkerr is situated and my aunt, brother and sister in law and I decided to go there for dinner.
I absolutely love Italian food, it doesn’t matter what kind of food, but I just love how the flavors are combined in the Italian cuisine. Pizza is one of the things that is a real treat for me. I don’t eat it often, but when I do, I enjoy it to the maximum. That’s why I was so exited when I heard about the opening of Sugo in the Aaert van Nesstraat in my hometown Rotterdam. Sugo sells pizza slices, so no whole round pizza’s, making it easier to have to either have just one slice for lunch, or try multiple pizza’s for dinner!
When I go shopping in the city centre of Rotterdam, I almost always start early, like, I make sure to be there around 10 o’clock in the morning. This means I usually haven’t had any coffee yet. Since I started drinking coffee about two years ago, it has become kind of a habit to have one cup of latte or cappuccino in the morning. I don’t drink more coffee really, but I have gotten quite attached to my one cup of coffee. So whenever I go shopping I take a break at one of my favorite coffee places in the city centre. I sometimes choose the bigger ones everyone knows, like Hema, or LaPlace, but most of the time I’d rather visit a smaller and less crowded place. Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order:
I have never filled in a tag before, but when I saw the Crazy Food Tag at Ohmyfoodness I decided I really wanted to do this one. Maybe it would be nice to give you some more background information about food and me. So I answered all of the questions below: Lees verder
The Foodhallen in Amsterdam was something I really wanted to visit, because I thought it had such an unique and amazing concept. I always have a hard time picking a restaurant when I go out for dinner, as I always want to try so many different foods and cuisines. In the Foodhallen, there are numerous vendors in an indoor foodmarket that create original bites of almost every cuisine you can imagine. You can just collect and combine all of the things you like and eat them at one location. How perfect is that for a food lover? Getting to try multiple things at once! Lees verder
Picknick is another place I read so much about on other blogs and every review I read was so positive that I needed to check it out myself. I honestly didn’t know it was in the place it is (at the Mariniersweg), even though I live in Rotterdam and I walked past it probably countless times. Really bad, I know. But this time I walked inside! Lees verder
My father opted to go out for dinner on my birthday and of course I had to choose a restaurant for this occasion. I figured I wanted to eat at a Greek restaurant at a nice location, so the first one that popped into my mind was Elleniko in the Markthal. I walked by a couple of times before and it looked so nice that I really wanted to try the food here. So off we went to the Markthal. If you make a reservation for dinner at Elleniko, you are being seated in the upstairs area, as they offer the restaurant menu there. In the downstairs area they serve a streetfood menu, which is more suited for a quick lunch or a break.
